Hawaiian Airlines predicts Australia and New Zealand routes to resume in 2022

Before the onset of pandemic, Hawaiian flew nonstop to Auckland, Brisbane and Sydney from its Honolulu hub. In terms of the airline's key markets of Japan and South Korea, Hawaiian CEO, Peter Ingram, said vaccination rates in the two countries had accelerated recently. "We consider Japan and Korea are likely to recover first among the four major geographies we serve. We still believe that," Ingram said. "We expect to see some of that coming in the fourth quarter. We won't act on publishing schedules until we are closer to the policy changes necessary to embark on a recovery." Hawaiian reported a US$6.2 million net loss for the three months to June 30, an improvement from a US$107 million net loss 12 months ago.
