Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) is aiming to begin operations on October 1 with a charter flight from Hong Kong to Beijing, the South China Morning Post newspaper has reported. Read More » GBA director, Stanley Hui, told the newspaper the airline expected to receive its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department on September 17. No timeline was given for Hong Kong's Air Transport Licensing Authority (ATLA) to grant GBA its operating licence, which will allow GBA to operate commercial flights rather than just charters. Hui said competitors have tried to slow down the approval process. "We believe we meet all the requirements. GBA's first 737-800, painted in the airline's livery, broke cover last week at Guangzhou.
