Auckland Airport to build domestic terminal adjacent to international facility

They will transfer to the new facility at a later date. “Even though international passenger numbers are currently at lows, it is important to set the wheels in motion for aviation’s recovery," Auckland Airport CEO, Adrian Littlewood, said. "Kiwis want a better domestic travel experience at Auckland Airport and that’s what we are focused on delivering." Auckland Airport's domestic and international terminals are about a kilometre apart. Passengers with connecting flights have two options for transit between terminals: walk 10 minutes or take a free shuttle bus. The airport's updated infrastructure program has put four projects – an expanded international airfield and taxiway, a new cargo precinct, a new international arrivals area and a second runway – on hold.
