Virgin Australia adjusts network after some states close domestic borders

Virgin Australia (VA) has launched two routes that link states and territories with open borders to create more opportunities for Australians to travel. Read More » The airline is starting nonstop flights between Adelaide and Launceston and Adelaide and Darwin in time for the September school holidays. It would be the first time in VA's 21-year history it will fly the Adelaide-Launceston route. “As Australia’s favourite airline, we are committed to putting more planes in the sky when we can to create more travel opportunities for Australians," VA group chief commercial officer, Dave Emerson, said. “More flying also means we will have more of our team members in the air and more business for the many hundreds of tourism operators and hospitality venues relying on the economic injection tourists provide to their communities. Domestic travel has been restricted after the country's two largest cities, Melbourne and Sydney, went into lockdown last month. Stay-at-home orders were lifted in Brisbane yesterday.
