Families of passengers and crew killed aboard MH17 testify before Netherlands court

Relatives of those killed on board a Malaysia Airlines flight shot down in 2014 have begun addressing the District Court of The Hague in The Netherlands. Read More » The trial of four men accused of shooting down the aircraft, being held at the Schiphol Judicial Complex (JCS), resumed on Monday. Some 90 relatives from eight countries are expected to testify before the court in the next three weeks. Other relatives have offered written statements to the court. On July 14, 2014 Malaysia Airlines 777-200ER, registration 9M-MRD and operating as flight MH17, was shot down over Ukraine by a Buk 9M83 surface-to-air missile while flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. All 283 passengers and 15 crew were killed. Three Russians and one Ukrainian have been charged with murder as a result of the tragedy. The case is being heard in absentia as all four defendants are not attending the trial.
