Phuket records 26,400 visitors since Sandbox scheme launched with more Thai destinations to open from October 1

Popular Thailand tourist destination, Phuket, has received 26,400 visitors since the "Sandbox" scheme kicked off on July 1, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TOT) said. Read More » International tourists are arriving in the island province on flights operated by EL AL from Tel Aviv, Cathay Pacific Airways from Hong Kong, Emirates Airline from Dubai, Etihad Airways from Abu Dhabi, Qatar Airways from Doha, Singapore Airlines from Singapore and Thai Airways International (THAI) from Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Paris, London and Zurich. The TOT said the sandbox scheme, which allows fully vaccinated travellers to visit the island without undergoing quarantine, will be available to domestic travellers from tomorrow. Thailand also has established similar sandbox programs for Koh Samui, Ko Pha ngan and Ko Tao. The TOT said Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hua Hin and Pattaya are planned to reopen to fully vaccinated international travellers from October 1.
