Read More » The A320neo was the first of two to arrive at the carrier this month with the second new aircraft expected to land in Auckland late next week. The aircraft will connect New Zealand with destinations in Australia and the Pacific. Air NZ chief pilot, David Morgan, said the new A320neo was a a welcome sign of international travel “being just on the horizon". “It’s welcome news, particularly in the context of the challenges the pandemic has brought upon our business,’’ he said. “It won’t be sitting on the tarmac for long before it will be jetting out of Auckland across the Tasman and to the Pacific Islands. We’re starting to gear up now so it’s a tremendously exciting time for the team at Air New Zealand.” The new aircraft seats up to 165 passengers and is the first A320neo to join the Air NZ fleet since the end of 2019. It will spend the coming days being prepared for service. The carrier’s fleet has an average age of 6.7 years, making it one of the youngest and most fuel efficient in the world.
