SpiceJet to accept two 777-200ERs into its fleet: report

India’s SpiceJet plans to introduce two 777-200ER wide-bodies to its fleet for long-haul passenger and/or cargo operations, local media has reported, citing unnamed industry sources. Read More » The reports said the two 777-200ERs were part of the LCC’s compensation package from Boeing for the extended grounding of the carrier’s 737 MAXs. The report offered no details about the timing of the 777-200ERs entry into service at the airline. Late last month, SpiceJet advertised for 777-200ER captains and first officers. The airline had previously leased A330 wide-bodies from Hi Fly to operate some repatriation flights and cargo-only services. In 2020, it was granted approval to fly between India and the UK and the U.S.
