Garuda Indonesia negotiating cancellations of aircraft orders: media report

Garuda Indonesia is planning to cancel orders for Airbus and Boeing aircraft as part of its restructuring, media reports, citing comments from senior executives at the Indonesia flag carrier. Read More » Garuda CEO, Irfan Setiaputra, told the Reuters news agency he was hopeful of a "win-win solution" in discussions with the aircraft manufacturers as the airline worked to cut debt levels from US$9.8 billion to US$3.7 billion. The SkyTeam alliance member has outstanding orders for 13 A330 family aircraft and 49 737 MAXs. Garuda has said previously it wanted to cancel the 737 MAX order and aimed to have a fleet of 66 aircraft, down from a pre-COVID-19 operating fleet of 142 airplanes. Garuda Indonesia finance director, Prasetio, told the Bloomberg news agency the company planned to keep an order for 25 A320 family aircraft.
