United Airlines (UA) will commence nonstop flights between Tokyo Narita and Saipan from September 1, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) governor, Ralph Torres, said. Read More » “Since the pandemic started, we have been working to bring back and diversify our main tourism markets,” Torres said. “We are excited to see these direct flights between Saipan and Japan start, which we have not had since the beginning of the pandemic.” UA managing director airport operations Asia-Pacific, Sam Shinohara, said the Star Alliance member was proud to be the carrier of choice for the nonstop Saipan-Tokyo Narita service. “In addition to providing inbound travel for tourists, the new Saipan-Tokyo Narita direct route will offer CNMI residents more convenient connections to Asia and major cities in the U.S.,” Shinohara said. UA also will start twice a week Nagoya-Guam and Fukuoka-Guam nonstop flights on August 1 and August 4, respectively. UA is scheduled to begin Osaka Kansai-Guam on July 1 and increase Tokyo Narita-Guam to 21 flights weekly from August 1.
