Fiji Airways appointed managers of government-owned Fiji Airports

Fiji Airways has been awarded the contract to operate 15 airports in the island nation. Read More » Until the new agreement was announced this week, Fiji Airports owned and managed Nadi International Airport and managed 14 other airports in the country. Fiji Airports also operates air traffic management services in the Nadi Flight Information Region (FIR), an area of six million square kilometres. “We have had a strong working relationship with Fiji Airports for many years and this management agreement will elevate services to the next level,” Fiji Airways CEO, Andre Viljoen, said. “COVID-19 has highlighted the need for a new approach to managing Fiji’s airport infrastructure and ensuring it is fighting fit for what lies ahead.” Vijoen said airports and airlines needed to work together to better serve the travelling public. “There cannot be a ‘disconnect’ between airlines and airports,” he said. “Now, more than ever, we need these two companies to be in lockstep to ensure every airline, every visitor, every returning Fijian, all freight shippers and each inter-island traveller sees the very best of our country represented at our airports.”
