India posts 4.2% domestic passenger growth for August

India’s airlines flew 10.1 million passengers on domestic routes last month, up 4.2% from the 9.7 million in-country passengers they carried in July. Read More » Also, air traffic was 51% higher than the 6.7 million domestic passengers transported in August 2021, figures from India's Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGCA) show. Once again, LCC IndiGo was India's leading domestic carrier for the month, with 5.8 million passengers transported or 57.7% of the domestic market. Vistara claimed second place with 981,000 million passengers flown, or 9.7% market share. GoFirst was third with 870,000 passengers (8.6% market share). In pre-COVID August 2019, India's airlines carried 11.8 million domestic passengers.
