Australian carriers log marginal improvement in on-time-performance

Fewer than seven in 10 Australian domestic flights arrived within 15 minutes of their schedules in October, figures from the country's Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE) show. Read More » The on-time arrivals rate for Australian domestic services was 69.3% in October, up one percentage point from 68.3% in September. Qantas had the best on-time arrivals performance for the 31 days at 74.2%, ahead of its regional wing, QantasLink, at 74.1%. Virgin Australia Regional Airlines (VARA) was next at 73.7%, followed by Rex Airlines (68.3%), Virgin Australia (64.5%) and Qantas Group LCC, Jetstar (64.4%). The October on time arrivals figure was significantly lower than the long-term average performance for all routes of 81.8%, BITRE said. The rate of cancellations, at 2.9%, also was higher than the long-term average of 2.1%.
