Sydney Airport CEO, Geoff Culbert, said there was a lack of capacity on international routes into and out of Australia's most populous city given growing demand for air travel. Read More » Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport had 916,000 international travellers pass through its terminals in October, up 5.5% month-on-month from 868,000 in September. “For the second consecutive month our international passenger recovery is sitting at 64%, relative to the same month in 2019,” Culbert said. “The lack of seat capacity into and out of Australia is constraining growth. To see a sustained recovery in our tourism market and visitor economy we need to unlock more capacity as quickly as we can.” The airport reported 2.04 million domestic passengers for the 31 days, up 4.8% from 1.95 million air travellers transported in September. The October 2022 figure represents 80.4% of the 2.54 million domestic passengers through the airport in the same month in 2019.
