United Airlines and Virgin Australia operate trans-Pacific Pride flight

United Airlines (UA), in partnership with Virgin Australia (VA), this week flew nonstop San Francisco-Sydney with a crew drawn from members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community. Read More » UA863, flown by a 777-300ER registration N2749U, took off from the U.S west coast city a little before 2330 local time on February 22 and arrived in Sydney, the host city of the World Pride festival, around 0900 on February 24. “As a proud ally of the LGBTQ+ community and the leading carrier from the U.S. to Australia, United is thrilled to join the party and help people celebrate the upcoming Pride events in Sydney,” United vice president of operations in San Francisco, Lori Augustine, said. VA CEO, Jayne Hrdlicka, added: “Virgin Australia launched our initial Pride Flight in the middle of the pandemic. Fast forward to today, we have flights all over Australia and our very first international Pride Flight from San Francisco with our wonderful partner, United Airlines.”
